COVID-19 Statement

Dear Students and Parents,

I am closely watching how the COVID-19 outbreak evolves and am trying to make the best decisions about business operations and precautionary health measures for myself, my students, and their families. As part of this commitment, I will continue to take steps to increase the levels of sanitation in the studio.

These steps are as follows:

Cleaning the piano keys and keyboard cover between each student (which always has been a normal procedure).

Using disinfecting cleaners on all doorknobs, faucets, music stands and other high touch areas of the studio and restroom after every student instead of daily.

Requiring all piano students to wash their hands before the lesson begins.

I am more than happy to continue in-person lessons with students whose families are in good health for as long as health organizations say that it is safe to do so.

For those who are high risk, have family/friends who are more susceptible, or if you do not wish to come to the studio for lessons, I am also available to teach remotely through Skype, Facebook Messenger, Google Hangouts, and Google Duo for middle school, high school, and adult students.

At the moment, I do not think it would be practical to teach very young students remotely since many of our lesson activities require much more in-person guidance.

If, however, you or your child is unable to make in-person or remote lessons work, I am still happy to email any music activities or sheet music to keep them busy and productive while out of school. I imagine there will be a lot of good practice time in the coming weeks!

Like many other self-employed business owners, I know that business will slow down, and I appreciate your participation and consideration once this health crisis has stopped.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
Jamie Schippers
